BRIDGING THE GENERATIONAL GAP
BRIDGING THE GENERATIONAL GAP AT A GLANCE
Bridging the Generational Gap (BTGG) knows that our strength lies not only in the words we stand by, but most importantly through the actions of our initiatives.
Established during the COVID-19 Pandemic in May 2020, BTGG seeks to work together with youth volunteers in an attempt to serve one of the most vulnerable sectors in the Canadian population, our senior citizens and long term care residents.
We realized that the challenges facing our elderly included increased social isolation, loneliness and general disconnectedness from society.
To combat these issues and bridge the divide, BTGG is in the process of establishing pen pal programs, face to face digital activities such as friendly visiting, art lessons, storytelling and musical performance.
We strive to provide excellent volunteering opportunities to serve those in our communities that need the most support.
Bridging the Generational Gap is achieving more with our initiatives than ever before. We work on many exciting projects to help improve the lives of others, and are very proud of the progress we continue to make. Learn more about what we do, who we help, and how we work every day to promote positive change.
At BTGG, we are dedicated to stepping up our efforts in addressing social, mental and physical isolation by offering digital friendly visiting. In doing so, long term care residents, senior citizens and other vulnerable peoples can be offered one of the most important tools to overcoming isolation - human interaction.Through friendly visiting, creation of important human connections via talking will be made. We are always striving to make a difference, and invite you to learn more and lend your support.
ONLINE BASED ACTIVITIES
Volunteers will have the opportunity to lead activities through digital means. Such possibilities include storytelling, playing musical instruments for the residents, and leading art groups through simple projects amongst other options.
All of these were thought of with the intention of looking out for the mental health of Canadian seniors.
